From noon time until nine pm, my blood sugar did not go above 115. For some reason I have had no problems with Symlin during lunch and dinner. I can tell the Symlin is working because I have not been as hungry for any of my meals. A little bit of info from the Symlin website on why I have not been as hungry. SYMLIN tells your brain that you are full sooner at meals. Although SYMLIN is not a weight-loss medicine, it may help you eat less. This may help you lose some weight. Eating less food also means less sugar is going into your blood. Symlin is not an insulin, it contains Amylin which is a hormone that partners with insulin to help control blood sugar levels. Just as people with diabetes make little or no insulin, they also make little or no amylin. Without enough amylin and insulin, your blood sugar levels can go too high after meals. Hopefully that gives everyone a better idea of how Symlin works. So my meals before Symlin were around 45 carbohydrates, since starting Symlin they have been around 30 carbohydrates. With only 30 carbohydrates for a meal I take my Symlin and then just over a unit of Humalog. For lunch and dinner this setup works amazing. I will continue to work out the kinks. I have to call the endocrinologist with my blood sugars from this week and he will tweak my dosages based on my blood sugars.
With my blood sugars being perfect for longer periods of time I don’t have that worry about what my blood sugar is doing. Im beginning to go on with my life after my meals and shots. The amount of times I check my pump for my blood sugar reading has decreased a lot. I would probably check it two to five time an hour before Symlin. I now will check it two to five times in two hours. This post may seem like I’m working for Symlin but I promise you that I am not, I’m just very happy with the results that I have seen in the first week of use. My blood sugar average per day has been 117, 122, 116 the past three days. My blood sugar average was around 130 before the Symlin.
