Today brought another trip to the gym at 9am. As I drove over to the gym I took a quick peak at my pump and it read 128. Going in I knew I had a cardio workout ahead of me so I had a granola bar and mentally prepared for the workout. After yesterday’s weight day my legs felt good but not great. By the end of the workout, they felt like jelly. A circuit that consisted of 10 squats, 10 pull ups, 20 kettle bell swings and a thirty second sprint on Jacobs ladder. (Looks like a great machine but it will kick your butt!!) I did the circuit three times with a minute rest when finished with the ladder. After that it was back to the hallway of pain. 100lb plate pushes and it would be down and back up to 5. After the ladder my legs were gone. I was able to do all 5 but it didn't look good. As I left I finished up my water and ate my recover power bar and gave myself 2 units. My pump read 99.
As I prepared some soy noodles and vegetables for dinner I glanced at my pump for the first time in hours. I was very happy to see 75. A little low, so I gave myself 2.4 units knowing that I'd be a bit active from 6-8 at basketball practice.
As 9:30 approaches I just tested and was 70. A bit low going in to my bedtime ritual. I poured a cup of cheerios just to avoid any problems well sleeping. We shall see how that goes. If I could repeat today for the next 365 days I would be very happy. But then what would be the fun of diabetes. I've come to enjoy the everyday struggles; it makes me appreciate life that much more. As I finish up it is with my brain thinking about past events in my life. Tomorrow won't be an easy day mentally and my heart will be hurting. I know it’s said a lot but enjoy the great people you have around you and never be afraid to share your feelings because you never know what tomorrow brings.
