A Little Bit of Everything

A nice band of heavy rain put any riding plans that I had off to another day.  This morning my body felt amazing, I honestly believe that it is happy being back on the bike.  My ride yesterday had me feeling strong, I was racing cars down the strip of road near the beach and feeling very light on the bike.  A day of rest will do nothing but help my body but I'm still disappointed that I did not ride.

As the title suggests today brings a little bit of everything, first off why is that when I know that I'm low I will test my blood sugar with an apple juice next to me??  This often happens after a long period of physical labor at work, I know that I'm low so why did I just drive a golf cart in to test my blood sugar.  I know I'm below 60, why not drink the juice and then test?  I secretly think that I want to see how low I am.  My other thought is that since I was little I was told to test and then treat the number.

My next odd topic, if you are going to send me an email about a new diabetes app for my phone, make sure it works!!!  I like diabetes apps, they make tracking my blood sugars more enjoyable and give me something to do when I'm bored.  This afternoon I got an email from a company telling me about a new app, the app looked good so I was excited to download it and start using it.  When I signed up however I was told that I was unable to connect to the servers.  Sorry but I don't need that crap, I don't care how great your app is if it doesn't work I'm not going to use it.

My last rant is about work and diabetes.  I have a great job and work with amazing people.  With that said, why is it that when our boss gets food and drinks for a big job we finished, why is it doughnuts, pizza, or regular soda?  I will then be asked "Why aren't you having any of the food?"  I could see this coming from someone that doesn't know much about diabetes but this person is a type II diabetic.  It is very confusing, what makes it worse is when I will be questioned about a "bad" food that I'm eating to treat a low.  "Soda?? that's not good for you!!!"  It is odd, I would say something but the other boss will always ask if I will eat the food that they are getting.  It is nice having "family" at work.

I go back and forth about testing versus treating. Sometimes I'll test first, sometimes I'll treat first.

I hope the app thing wasn't the one I'm working on (mySugr)? If so, connect with me and we'll figure it out...

Thanks!
